Of Evaluations, Books, Musicals, Gimmicks, and Johnny Depp

The past week has been quite chaotic for me. It surely was one week when I had tons of things to do. Everything that I used to do in just one day seemed to have blown up to humongous proportions.

As team leader, we had to evaluate our members. And because I had four people, I had to evaluate four of them. And because of me and my big mouth, I found myself doing the computations for those four people. Geez! What I was actually asking was for a day without tasks and what I got was additional evaluation form parts to answer plus all your tasks. Too bad. There were also graphs and charts to do. I don't know how it happened but I did go through a couple of graphs and charts. And only one of them was mine. Hehe.

So, come to think of it, I had additional tasks added to my usual. And as per my usual, it was not actually what I would call the "usual". I know I may be confusing you but here's what actually happened. The team's manager actually proposed that one of my team members be exchanged for one of the other team's members. And so it meant that I had a new SEO copywriter under me. The trouble was that, the new copywriter (a blogger to be exact) was quite new. Fairly new and she still is having a hard time writing one that could be called "so-so" at the very least. Well, maybe because she is still new but I do think she can make it well. And because she is new, I am having a hard time understanding what she is trying to say in her articles. And I do need to make real good revisions of what she has submitted to me. Thank God week one for the SEO copywriter/blogger swap is done. Week two, I hope, would be far better.

Then, my other blogger caught the flu. And he's been out of the office for three days. And so this means that I would have tons of pending tasks. And that would mean doubled efforts (but I do not wish to work extra hours without the pay). But his being sick has been kind of a blessing for me - not because I want him to be sick. You see, him not being around has allowed me to spend more time editing the new blogger's articles and send her some guidelines with regards to blog writing. Whew! But to Charlie, my other blogger, I hope you're in the office by Tuesday.

Saturday afternoon, at the office, we had experienced a very slow internet connection because they said that Bayantel's connection was down and so we were using SmartBro. Oh well. Whatever. The connection was still super slow. So we asked if we could go home early and make up for those lost hours come Monday. Thank God they agreed. And so Raziel, Leonel, Jhong and I went to Charlie to check up on him and see how he was doing. We feasted on pizza and then watched movies (well, portions of National Treasure, Close To You, and D' Anothers).

I do remember though that night when a couple of colleagues - Jhong, Charlie, Jhong, and Leonel - and I went out and jammed over a bottle of Generoso. It was a fun night. We talked about tons of things and we also had fun planning tons of crazy stuff - including planning a musical where all of the members of the web marketing analysts would be joining in. Just imagine all of us doing Grease, The Sound of Music, Chicago, Moulin Rouge, High School Musical, Les Miserables, and Miss Saigon in just one show. It would be the musical of all musicals. Haha. I just could not imagine. Really.

Well, I've been out a lot lately. After work, it's either I am with my colleagues or I would be with my other set of friends. When I'm with my colleagues, we would be laughing our hearts out and doing crazy antics. Singing crazy songs would also be one of those things. And if I'm with my other friends, we would either stay in Ate Pinky's house or we would be having joyrides.

Like yesterday. Ate Pinky and Jorge and I went joyriding (if there is such a word). We went to the airport and ate some barbecue. Then we went around the city and decided to check out the new resto-slash-bar in Daraga. It's named 7th Degree and it really is nice. Really. It is located near the church of Daraga which is situated atop a hill. And so you can see the lights of the houses below. Really looks nice and really peaceful. We're probably going to be back soon.

But because I'm often out, I really miss reading. You see, when I get home, it's already late and I'm tired and all I can do is lie down and sleep. I do miss reading my pocketbooks. I have some here which I need to read. I have The Golden Compass (Phillip Pullman), The Da Vinci Code (Dan Brown), Prime Time (Joan Collins), and The Cereal Murders (Diane Mott Davidson). And I also have Angels & Demons (Dan Brown) on the way. Geez!

But then again, when I am home and I open my computer, I can stay online for hours and just look for anything related to Johnny Depp. Oh yes. My Johnny. He's one of the reasons why I go to work sleepy. He's been keeping me up late for the past couple of weeks. Geez!

I do search for his pictures. And I also am a current visitor of YouTube where I do get to watch tons of videos. I did get to watch one where he was still young and was still part of 21 Jumpstreet. I also did get to see two videos where he was a guest in this Japanese show. The first time he was there (for PoTC 2), it was really fun. The second one (for PoTC 3) was really scary. I mean, it had become quite corny. Not even funny. Really. Scary is the right word for me. Good thing though that Johnny Depp is quite a polite guy. Geez.

Anyway, I remember the Johnny Depp jokes that a couple of colleagues and I shared over a couple bottles of beer. They're pretty corny but I found them funny. Haha.

Eh di depp well.

Ano daw ang favorite na mura ni Johnny Depp?
Eh di depp-puta.

Oh my God. I know.

But if you do have a couple of jokes like that, a couple of Johnny Depp jokes, leave them as comments. I'd really love to hear them.

Friday's Feast #4

Appetizer: Name a funny habit you have.
I don't know. I'm not so sure if I do have one (or maybe I do but I don't actually just know it.) Anyway, maybe I'll just declare that each time I hear something quite trivial or controversial, I can hear two voices inside my head squealing the two sides of that issue. (MPD, anyone?)

Soup: If you could instantly know how to play a musical instrument, which one would you pick?
Drums.

Salad: How long is your hair?
Around the middle of my back.

Main Course: When was the last time you forgave someone, and who was it?
I think it was Dennis, a friend from Manila. We have not been in good terms before during my pregnancy. Well, maybe I have forgiven him already ages ago but it was just recently that we had actually communicated and forgave each other. Oh you know. Pride.

Dessert: What is your favorite kitchen appliance?
Haha. Please don't ask me this. I don't actually cook. So well, maybe I'll say the refrigerator?

I Asked For This

And so I asked for an interview. And so she sent me my interview questions. So here I am, answering those questions. Quite simple Qs but thought-provoking if I can call them such. Nice questions Mats

1. What's the difference between needing a person and loving someone?
Well, for me, needing a person can be like needing something material. You just like to have it because you need it. After you use it, your interest in it would be gone. As for loving, now that is something different. Love is difficult to explain. So maybe I can say that it is unconditional. When you need a person, you don't necessarily love him. But if you love someone, you most certainly need him but needing him is only one of the major factors. (I know I'm sounding very vague here. Well, maybe. I really don't know how to differentiate the two. As Winona said in Reality Bytes, "I know it when I see it.")

2. How do you value friendship?
Oh I value friendship a lot. I have experienced though with a couple of my friends that despite different love lives and love interests, despite time and distance, and despite anything else that happens, they are still there. Some of my worst experiences really did help me see who're going to be there for you and who'll start walking away from you. And I do appreciate that a lot. At least, now I know.

3. Are you willing to sacrifice for love?
Love for my son, yes. I am willing to sacrifice. He came from me and he's part of me. And my love for him is totally unconditional. So I can say that I really would sacrifice for him if need be. However, if we're talking about sacrificing for love of a lover, that I am not sure I would do. Well, I have done sacrificing a lot of what I had to offer before and it just did not turn out good in the end. So maybe I'm still smarting right now thinking about that that I am not willing to do it again. Maybe. I honestly can't give a sure answer on that one.

4. How do you spend time with your kid?
Since I am usually out, I do try to spend time with my son before I go out in the morning or when I go home in the afternoon. I also try to have a "date" with my son during my weekend when I am free. During work days, I would play with my son in the morning before I go to the office. He would sometimes join me when I prepare for work. I would also play with him when I go home in the afternoon. We would watch TV or we would spend time drawing his tiny little hands. During my weekends, my son would be the one to wake me up by banging on my door shouting, "Mama! Mama!" We would either go to the mall or stay at home. OR when I have work to do at home, I would use the computer while he just watches me or plays around with the stuff in my room.

5. Would you enter a serious relationship with a guy just for his looks?
I don't think I would do that. You see, if you go for a guy with good looks, you would most probably have a lot of other girls going for him. But if he was Johnny Depp, I'd probably go for it. Haha.

So if you're interested... here are the rules of this game:

1. Leave a comment saying "Interview Me".
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

I know this has been going around for months already so I'm thinking nobody's going to be up for this one. So just in case there might be one who's really interested, then drop me your thoughts and also please do include your email. Wink

Short But Sweet

So here's what happened:
  • Saturday night, had fun joyriding with Jorge, Ate Pinky and Ate Gemma
  • Sunday morning, went to Jovellar. Had fun with colleagues at the waterfalls there. I think it was named the Quintanay Falls. Correct me if I'm wrong. (Although I did have tons of difficulty going through those rocks and those vines. Sheesh!)
  • Sunday night, was supposed to go to Manhattan but Jorge and Ate Pinky were all quite so tired. Plan did not push through
  • Monday morning, my son handed me this envelope containing a cheque from you-know-where. Yahoo!
  • Monday afternoon, deposited the cheque with Leonel.
  • Monday afternoon, went to Ate Pinky's where Jorge fetched us.
  • Monday late afternoon, went to Pares King with Ate Pinky, Jorge, and Jules. Met up with Jhong, Arianne, Charlie, and Kaye Anne. Annabelle followed. Ate Pinky et. al. left early.
  • Monday evening, tambay at the airport. Haha. Fun stories.
Mister chickboy, mister chickboy... Ano ba yang nasa YM mo? Wahaha! Tongue

Who is Atomicgirl?
Atomicgirl is a single mom who is currently jobless. Well, she does freelance SEO and writing jobs and that keeps her busy. She dreams of being a professional photographer and she dreams of owning her very own dSLR. She loves the Internet and she also collects movies, and good reads. She considers herself to be a fan of Johnny Depp and David Cook. At present, her constant source of happiness is her son, James Nicholas Sky, who is a bubbly and talkative two-and-a-half-year old. Although Atomicgirl graduated with a BA Communication Research degree, this feisty Bicolana is quite satisfied with the industry that she is involved in right now. She now lives in Legazpi City although she sometimes misses the fun times she had during her 6-year stay in the jungle of Manila. She is a woman. She is a writer. She is a mother. And she is most definitely not a saint.

Buy me a cup of coffee.
