I think a week ago, I have already heard about this. The Golden Compass is now a film. Yes, a film. And deja vu has set in once more. I feel like I have been transported back to my college years when Mayee and I were doing a paper in Comm2 and decided to make one on fantasy books. We tackled Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, the Chronicles of Narnia, all other books by Roald Dahl.
And now, these books have become movies and have gained much popularity when in fact, they were not even "names" when they were still books. The Golden Compass was one book that Mayee discovered later on along with Abarat. As per the former, this one is yet one book amidst a set of three books I believe (if my memory serves me right). We were also reading Artemis Fowl and the whole set of A Series of Unfortunate Events.
I'm not going to be amazed if these become movies again.
And all these, thanks to Mayee for giving me the chance to read these pieces of literature. Really. I was a poor student and could not afford to buy these books. She lent me those so I could find myself in these fantasy worlds. Haha.
The Golden Compass. Now a movie. Still can't believe it.
I did try to see what kind of daemon I had and I was given this dog whose name was Agapius I think. I could not decipher the handwriting. Anyway, if you could help me find the real daemon, I would greatly appreciate it.
The weekend was simply one of those that has left me drained and tired but happy. Haha. Glad to have these people as my friends. And glad to have all those people around me.
Meteor Garden I was able to finish Meteor Garden last weekend. I did skip one episode because the VCD would not play anymore but still, I was able to keep up with the story. Gawd. If I thought I wanted Hua Tse Lei, I think I like Dao even better. Brutal pero mapagmahal. Wahaha.
Blend's Bar Saturday night, while I was at Ate Pinky's house, Jorge dropped by and wanted to go out for a ride. I don't know where he gets the energy for he has been driving from Legazpi to Naga and back. And now he wants to go to Tabaco. But because he was hungry, they decided to go to Blend's first. The place is stiffling hot. The music is good but too loud. The shake was pretty much okay except that it seems they have been given huge helpings of sugar (or condensed milk). We had to put in heaps of water to tone down the sweetness.
People were looking at us for we were drinking shakes and it was a bar for crying out loud. But who cares? The service was quite slow though. We ordered a plate of french fries and they took around 30 minutes to serve it to us. Verdict? If given a choice, I don't think I'd be back at Blend's.
Tasks I did bring home some tasks because of the status of my computer at work. But lo and behold! When I was about to do them at home, I had no Internet connection. Thank you, SmartBro.
Sky In Legazpi Sunday morning, I decided to go to Legazpi. I decided to bring my son and a yaya. I bought the things I needed to buy. My son was quite so restless that I told the yaya to go around and let my son play. Sheesh. Sky is now an elevator addict. He just loves riding that thing.
We ate at Jollibee because I realized I hadn't eaten anything that day yet. And while we were there, Sky was so happy to see Jollibee (the statue). I mean, it was not even Jollibee the mascot in the flesh. And as luck would have it, Jollibee entered. Yes, the mascot. All the other kids (older than my son) were crying and were scared. But my son was especially happy and was shouting, "Babee! Babee!" Fanatic? Haha. He even would not want to leave because he still wanted to see Jollibee.
When we were at the toy store, I was busy choosing some toys for some kids who were having their birthdays this month. I told Sky to choose a toy. Of all the toys that he wanted to bring home, he chose this ratty plastic toy airplane that cost 49.75php. Haha.
Sky was so tired that by the time we were waiting for the jeepney to rumble on, he was already asleep. Awww...
Partying At Charlie's As I told you in a previous post, Sunday night was the scheduled night for Charlie's birthday celebration. Some of the web marketing people went there. Jhong, Sandy, Lea, Maricon, Talie, Leonel, and Raziel were there (Kuya Ga was there as well). We ate a lot and sang a lot. Con, Talie, Jhong, Leonel, and I spent the night there and when I woke up, that's when I saw the real picture of what it means to be wasted. Haha. Pictures to come.
Movie Marathon I had done a great deal of movie marathons. And last weekend was yet another movie marathon weekend. I watched Cars, Edward Scissorhands, and Carrie.
Cars was an eye-opener for me. I have been editing articles about racing and races but I was not totally able to comprehend them. Thank God for this movie I am now able to totally understand what it all means. Yahoo!
Edward Scissorhands made me feel pity. Same as Carrie. But, of course, I preferred Edward Scissorhands over Carrie. You see, the latter stars Johnny Depp. And he is totally darling. The innocence. The look. He is not guwapo but he sure is charming. Despite the weird haircut and the totally weird hands.
I tried updating this blog yesterday but I was quite not so successful. I don't know what went wrong but everything that I had typed all vanished. Gawd. So I decided to leave it at that and do the updating later on. (I had tons of work to do yesterday.)
So I'm just telling you this. But I'm not going to write about the blog post that was not finished. I'll do that later maybe. But just to tell you, that blog post is going to have the title 'The Weekend That Was'. Ciao!
I have been thinking. And now I know the kind of guy that I usually get attracted to.
I like mysterious guys. You know, that kind that would seem "broody". Would not utter a word if you're not close. Would just pass by you. Would even seem to be "suplado". But then again, that kind of guy that when you see him with friends, he would be one of the friendliest and really part of his crowd. The mystery is the one that makes me want to know him more. You know. That's the attractive part. That's the challenge.
I also do not go much for guys who are "makulit" and those which you may describe to be a "clown". I dunno why.
I like the kind of guy who's not too maputi. I mean, I feel like I am his maid if I am with him. And yes, I also do not really go after those who dress too neat - way neater than I am. I mean, sure, some people may go for them. But with the way I dress, a guy who is neater than me would make me look like his personal maid.
I like the kind of guy who's got sense. Who can think well and really has something to say. I mean somebody you can have those silly jokes with yet also be someone you can have discussions with on really deep matters.
You know why I realized this? You see, I have been thinking about stuff and I think I do find similarities between all those guys that I have "liked". Think Atom Araullo. Think Johnny Depp. Think Hua Tze Lei. Think Dao Ming Si. All other guys, I won't mention anymore. You'll probably not know them. Haha.
By the way, if you do find other similarities between them, tell me. I may sure have missed something.
I woke up to find that my alarm clock did not go off. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the time has been changed. I mean, really. Instead of seeing 7:31am, I was seeing 7:31pm. Gawd!
So I was going to be late. And I decided not to go to work anymore. I was going to be late. So let me just work at home. I'll go to the office in the afternoon.
Before going to the office, I decided to go to the mall first to buy some things. When I was inside, it was packed with people. I went off to buy some original VCDs of those movies that I love. There was a mall-wide sale so I took the opportunity to buy those stuff that I needed.
But the thing is, I have not eaten anything since I woke up and it was already past noon. My stomach was grumbling and I felt like fainting. Really. The airconditioning unit in the mall seems not to be working. And at the cashier, the lines were really, really, really long. Well, I was not surprised. The cashiers were slow. And I mean slow.
When I arrived at the office, I discovered that I could not log in into my computer. Guess what? They created accounts. Again. I was given limited access. And yes, my files were gone. Thank you. I had to wait for like an hour to get everything back.
They were able to get my files but boy do I still have to familiarize myself with the new settings. Sheesh! And yes, my files were all in disarray. And when I did try to work, the programs would hang. If I would save my files (ctrl+S), documents would hang. Excel sheets would hang. I even have to wait for like 10 minutes to open my files. That's how slow the computer is running.
I asked our technical group and they said that it is because of a virus. Virus my ass. I have been using this PC since I came here and guess what? It has not been acting this slow. Yes, our outdated computer at home is running faster than this one, I tell you. And they tell me they have reformatted my PC? Please.
I think I'll work on my tasks at home. It's not my fault they changed my PC's settings. (They even changed my desktop with this utterly ridiculous picture. Gawd! I think I prefer just having plain gray as my desktop, thank you very much.)
I hope things do work out well after this. I could not afford any other "mishaps". I think I'll go crazy anytime soon.
Who is Atomicgirl? Atomicgirl is a single mom who is currently jobless. Well, she does freelance SEO and writing jobs and that keeps her busy. She dreams of being a professional photographer and she dreams of owning her very own dSLR. She loves the Internet and she also collects movies, and good reads. She considers herself to be a fan of Johnny Depp and David Cook. At present, her constant source of happiness is her son, James Nicholas Sky, who is a bubbly and talkative two-and-a-half-year old. Although Atomicgirl graduated with a BA Communication Research degree, this feisty Bicolana is quite satisfied with the industry that she is involved in right now. She now lives in Legazpi City although she sometimes misses the fun times she had during her 6-year stay in the jungle of Manila. She is a woman. She is a writer. She is a mother. And she is most definitely not a saint.
